The decision for me was fairly simple, as I had an interest in Biology and Chemistry hence choosing Science stream was an easy call. Also, I felt I was not good with numbers hence commerce was not of particular interest to me. Hence, I decided to Science stream after my 10^th.  Choosing the current post-graduation college was not difficult as well, since being in North Karnataka, K.L.S Institute of Management Education and Research, Belagavi is ranked amongst the top institutes. I had always wanted to join this college and fortunately, it happened for me. It is the top college in Belagavi city and there was a straightforward choice in front of me to go for this college. Also, the additional add-on courses that I.M.E.R offers which is beneficial in the future. All these factors made a strong impact on the decision to choose the current college which is I.M.E.R. Also, the crash-course of 1 week which I attended before my PGCET examination gave a glimpse of how the environment and faculty in the college are. The staff here is also very well-experienced which is an additional benefit. Honestly, the environment as well as the faculty seemed very friendly, which also encouraged me to choose this college rather than opting for some other college.

Another major reason for choosing this college was that in Belagavi, this is the only institute that is separately dedicated for MBA as supposed to other institutes which have other streams such as B.E, Architecture, etc. in the same campus.

To join this college, I had to appear for the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). I had not taken any specific training as such, but I had taken a one-week crash course in the same institute before the entrance exam. The rest of the preparation was done on my own by studying. To be honest, I desired to take admission in this college itself. This college was on the top of my priority list. I thought that only if I do not get admission in this college then I would think of some other college.

Once the exam results were out, I was relieved to know that my rank was within the cut-off rank of this college. Hence, I was happy that I was going to take admission in the same college which I desired. The admission process was lengthy as I had to go through the document verification, then seat allotment, etc. But once that was done, the rest of the formalities were very easy and the administrative staff in I.M.E.R was very helpful in completing the admission process. If I would not have been allotted a seat in I.M.E.R, then I would have had to look at the other colleges in Belagavi. But honestly I did not want to join any other college, and fortunately, I had the privilege to get admitted in this college.

In college, most of the time is spent in attending the classes, and the remaining time in completing the projects and assignment that are assigned to us. I like to attend all the classes, but classes of marketing are of special interest to me. I enjoy understanding the changing dynamics of the market and the behavioral changes that a consumer undergoes while buying a product or service. It is very interesting. Along with studies and assignments, I am a part of various functions conducted in the college as a volunteer; I am a part of a few events as well as workshops that are conducted on various topics in the college. If given a chance, I would like to organize sessions or talks which give us an insight on how we as MBA students can have learning from various other fields such as sport, which will give us a whole new perspective of learning.

The college experience has changed me a lot as a person. It has infused a new level of self-confidence and self-belief in me. It has helped me realize my weaknesses and assess myself and correct myself wherever necessary. I have now learned the value of work ethic and professionalism by being a part of the various functions in the college. Due to college, I feel I am open to new challenges and have the confidence to overcome them. The college has given me exposure and I have learnt to act responsibly. It has helped me realize the value of time as well as it has allowed me to think in a practical manner. It has helped me to analyze various situations that I faced and then take a rational decision rather than an emotional one. It has given me a reality check about what are the demands of the industry and what the employers expect out of the students who join as fresher and college is definitely helping me making myself an industry-ready person.
