IIFT 2018 Student Reactions: English Usage & General Awareness Tough
IIFT 2018 was conducted by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) for admission to two-year full-time MBA programme in International Business offered by the institute. The exam was conducted in an offline mode, and the duration of the exam was 2 hours.
Candidates start reaching the exam centre at early as 8 am. Some students seemed confident while some looked nervous. Shiksha got it touch with the test-takers to know their pre and post exam reactions.
Post-exam Reactions

The exam was tough. English Usage was a shocker and GK was extremely tough. RC was moderate, LR was easy, DI was lengthy with low marks (0.75), and QA was doable, but overall the paper was very tough. Let’s see how I score.
Yashasvi Rana
I am not happy with my performance. Though I had prepared a lot for the exam, English Usage and General Awareness lowered my performance. Till last year, test-takers could choose to perform either in DI or LR, and similarly could choose between EU and RC, but this year this option was not there. Performing across all sections was required.
Shuvendu Jha
This was my second attempt at IIFT. English Usage came as a major shocker to me, and I guess this was the toughest in the last 5 years. Again General Awareness was tough for me. Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning were still doable. Though I’m not very happy with my performance, I’m still hoping for the best.
Jatin Bora
I found GA and English Usage extremely tough and RC was lengthy and tricky. LR-DI were of moderate difficulty level and doable. The overall difficulty level of the exam was tough.

I had appeared for CAT too this year, and that went well, so I am hoping I find IIFT easy too. I am confident about my preparation, and I am sure I will do well.
Prerna Anand
Though I am well-prepared for the exam, I am a bit nervous as this is the first ever management entrance test that I am appearing in. I am confident about my performance in all the other sections except for the General Awareness section. GK has always been my pain area, but I am hoping that I know the answers to the questions that come today in this section.
Harshita Makhija
I am happy with my preparation. As soon as I enter the exam hall, my focus shall be on speed and accuracy both, because that is what matters to clear the cut-off. I will start with the doable questions first, and skip the questions that will act as speed breakers.
Rohit Juyal
This is my second IIFT attempt. Last time I could not manage my time well, which resulted in big disappointment when the results were declared. This time, I am going to keep an eye on time, and according to my strengths and weaknesses, I will dedicate 20 mins to DI, 25 mins to LR, 25 mins to QA, 20 mins to RC, 20 mins to VA, and 10 mins to GK – this is going to be my strategy. Let’s see how much it works for me.
Test-takers were allowed to enter the exam gate till 9.45am. IIFT 2018 has commenced, and we will get in touch with the students once the exam concludes.
