IIM Indore and UP Police sign MoU for crowd and traffic Management

IIM Indore would work in the areas of management, public administration, and public policy for police officials. This would also consist of exchange of professionals and scholars for short term training.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore and Uttar Pradesh Police have signed an MoU to create tools for improved law enforcement, enhance beat policing, and traffic and tactical patrolling. Moreover, its objective is also to explore the means of improving the morale and efficiency of police personnel while reducing stress. On January 21, 2020, Director of IIM Indore, Professor Himanshu Rai and Director General of Police (DGP), UP, OP Singh signed the MoU.

As per Professor Rai, IIM Indore would work in the areas of management, public administration, and public policy for police officials. This would also consist of exchange of professionals and scholars for short term training. The topics would consist of video analytics, social media management, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, communications, broadcasting, etc. 

For senior IPS officials, Professor Rai will conduct a session to hold a discourse on tactical and enhanced ways to deal with law and order situations, as per a statement released by IIM Indore.

Before this, IIM Indore had joined hands with the Traffic Police Department of Indore in July last year. IIM Indore came together with the department to remain a contextually-relevant business school and develop socially conscious managers and leaders. IIM Indore presented a report on improving traffic conditions in the city.

IIM Indore has always been working towards the betterment of society through its innovative ideas and technology. This is one of those steps towards the improvement of the society and nation.
