Admission to PGP programme of IIM Visakhapatnam is a three-phase selection process which includes:
- Shortlisting of candidates based on their CAT exam score
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Final selection of candidates

The CAT exam is always conducted on the last Sunday of November every year so the CAT 2024 exam is expected to be conducted on Nov 24, 2024. Official announcement of the CAT 2024 exam date will be made by the convening IIM on Jul 30, 2024. Q: What is the eligibility for the PGPEx course at IIM Visakhapatnam?
IIM Visakhapatnam's Post Graduate Programme for Experienced Professionals (PGPEx) is a course for working professionals. The candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience after their qualifying degree. Applicants require a valid CAT, GMAT, GRE score to be considered for admission. Alternatively, applicants also can choose to apply for PGPEx by opting to take IIMV Test. Finally, the selection process for PGPEx at IIM Visakhapatnam is based on the candidate's academic qualifications, work experience, statement of purpose, and performance in the personal interview round.
Q: How can I get into IIM Visakhapatnam without CAT?
To qualify for IIM Visakhapatnam admission to the MBA programme, CAT is mandatory. So getting into IIM Visakhapatnam without CAT is not possible. Overall candidates need to acquire a valid CAT score in order to apply to PGP or MBA programme. Candidates seeking admission to PGP at IIM Visakhapatnam are first required to apply for the CAT exam. Q: Who is eligible for IIM Visakhapatnam Executive MBA?
Candidates who wish to take admission to the EMBA programme offered at IIM Visakhapatnam have to meet minimum eligibility requirement. In order to take admission to the EMBA programme, candidates must be an Indian national residing in India only and must have passed a minimum of three year Bachelor's degree examination with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for NC-OBC/ EWS category candidates and 40% for SC/ ST/ PwD) category candidates) and must have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience as of the closing date of the respective application window at an officer/ executive level or higher, as a professional, or as an entrepreneur.
IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Process: Stage 2
In the second stage, IIM Visakhapatnam will consider the candidates' percentage scores in Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. These scores are adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. For candidates who qualify, final scores obtained by the candidates are used for the bachelor’s degree and professional degrees (if any).
Next, all qualified confirmed candidates with Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting, and Company Secretary certifications will be eligible for weightage under the professional course.
Candidates must note that the maximum of the score of the work experience and the score of the professional course is considered for selection under a common parameter of work experience.

IIM Visakhapatnam Selection Process: Stage 3
A pre-PI rank list based on parameters on the above mentioned parameters will be created. Candidates who get shortlisted on based on these parameters will be further called for the PI round. They will be required to submit a detailed application including the following:
- A statement of purpose
- Details of semester wise / year wise marks in Bachelor’s degree
- Copies of all academic transcripts & certificates
- Copies of work experience certificates (if applicable)
- Certificate of disability (if applicable)
Certificate of scheduled caste / scheduled tribe / other backward class – non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable)
The PI score carried 25 points. Once standardisation across interview panels and sessions is done, these will be added to the following scores to arrive at the final aggregate score:

IIM Vishakhapatnam CAT Cutoff 2024 will be released soon after the declaration of the CAT 2024 result. For the past 3 years, the CAT percentile cutoff has remained 92. Looking at the past years' trend, there is a high probability of the CAT percentile cutoff to fall between 92-95.
