UGC NET 2024 December: The authority released the UGC NET 2024 City Slip for the exam scheduled on January 3, 2025 at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The UGC NET 2024 December session exam will be held from January 3 to January 16, 2025. Now, the UGC NET 2024 examination for the December session will be conducted from January 3 to January 16, 2025. The correction facility was available on December 13 and December 14, 2024. The UGC NET 2024 fee pament last date was December 12, 2024. The December session UGC NET 2024 application form was available from November 19 to December 11, 2024 (Upto 11:59 P.M.). The authority introduced 'Ayurveda Biology' as an additional subject in the UGC NET exam from December 2024 onwards to the existing list of subjects of UGC NET. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

The UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The exam is conducted twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and for awarding Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. The exam is conducted in two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Here are the details of the UGC NET exam pattern: Paper 1: a) Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes combining both papers) b) Total marks: 100 c) Number of questions: 50 d) Type of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) e) Marking scheme: Each question carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. F) Syllabus: Teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. The UGC NET exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2.   • Check Internet Speed: As more than 8 lakhs (approx) are trying to complete the application form at once, the candidates are facing a server crash. The candidates are advised to use fast internet or wait for a few days to fill out the application form. 
  • Change in Application Particulars: The candidates are advised to check the application form thoroughly before submitting the application form. If the candidates have submitted the application form, they have to wait for the application correction window to make corrections to the application form. 
  • Photograph & Signature: The candidates are advised to check the dimensions and the size of the photograph and Signature before uploading it as the the platform accepts the photograph and signature in a given range of sizes and formats. If the size and format are correct then the candidates are advised to wait for some time as it will be a server error due to the slow speed of the Internet or a server crash due to high traffic.
  • Multiple Payment: The candidates are advised to make various payments for the UGC NET 2024 application form. Once the payment is done, keep the payment receipt by your bank and wait for 72 hours. If the payment status is not successful within the time limit, then mail the problem to the UGC NET help desk explaining the problem in brief, and attach the payment receipt by your bank in the mail.

Nationality plays an important role as an eligibility criterion for the UGC NET exam as only Indian citizens can take part in the UGC NET exam.   • Candidates should have completed their post-graduation from a UGC-recognised college/university
  • A relaxation of five per cent in educational qualification is given to reserved category candidates

UGC NET 2024 Age Limit As Of 1/06/2024

There is no upper age limit to appear for the UGC NET professorship exam, whereas, for the post of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), the candidates must be below or equal to 30 years of age. However, the candidates must fulfill other criteria to appear for the UGC NET exam. The details of the age limit criteria are given below:

  • Candidates should not be more than 30 years of age to be eligible for NTA NET JRF as of June 1, 2024
  • There is no age restriction to applying for the post of Assistant Professor
  • A relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidates

The authority released the UGC NET 2024 provisional answer key for all the June session exams conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024 along with the Question Paper with Recorded Responses. UGC NET 2024 Exam Pattern 

UGC NET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and 2. As per the prescribed UGC NET 2024 exam pattern, both papers contain multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in offline mode. UGC NET 2024 Latest Update: NTA NET Scores for PhD

NTA and UGC updated the guidelines for the UGC NET exam from the June cycle exam. The candidates appearing in the exam can check the latest updates by the Agency and Commission below:

  • The UGC NET 2024 exam will be conducted in online for both papers. The CBT mode will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The normalisation of the UGC NET marks will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The UG candidates with four-year UG courses can apply for the UGC NET JRF exam and the candidates who will secure 75% marks can enroll themselves in PhD
  • The UGC NET marks can be used for admission in PhD and no more separate entrance exams will be conducted by the universities for admission in PhD. The UGC NET marks will be categorised into three sections:
    • Category 1:  Candidates qualified with JRF will be eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship, Appointment as Assistant Professors, and Enrollment as PhD scholar. 
    • Category 2: Candidates qualified for UGC NET will be eligible for Assistant Professorship and admission as PhD scholar 
    • Category 3: Based on the marks obtained by the candidates, the candidates will be allowed in the universities as a  PhD scholar

Note: The candidates from Category 2 & 3 will have to go through an interview by the Universities to enroll as a PhD scholar. 70 per cent weightage will be given to the NET score and 30 per cent marks will be based on the interview. 

UGC NET 2024 Syllabus

The UGC prescribes the syllabus of the UGC NET exam. The syllabus for the exam is divided into parts- Paper 1 and Paper 2.  Paper 1 is a general paper which is equivalent for every candidate. It comprises questions from the quantitative, research, teaching aptitude, and more. On the other hand, UGC NET Paper 2 is subject-specific and it comprises questions from the subject that was chosen by the candidate while filling out the UGC NET application form.
