In the MHRD-NIRF ranking 2021, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta have grabbed top three ranks. Check the full list here.
The MHRD-NIRF rankings are usually announced in the month of April. However, the event is getting delayed since 2020 due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by restrictions imposed in order to contain the virus. Just like last year, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan presented the NIRF Indian Ranking 2021 through a webinar on the official website of NIRF. NIRF India rankings 2021 released on September 9, 2021, are divided into ten categories - Overall Rankings, University, Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture and Medical.
In the Management category, IIM Ahmedabad has been ranked No 1, followed by IIM Bangalore as No 2 and IIM Calcutta No 3. However, last year also, IIM Ahmedabad secured the first spot followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta. IIM Ahmedabad was ranked No 1 in 2018 too, but was replaced by IIM Bangalore in 2019 as the top MBA institute. The oldest IIM has regained its position this year, as well. IIM Calcutta has maintained its position at No.3 in the past three years.

The NIRF rankings are based on five parameters - Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Peer Perception.

The number of Indian institutes which registered for the NIRF ranking this year, has increased from 20 per cent as compared to last year. This year for the first time research institutes have been ranked.
