Online classes are not very much effective as compared to Offline classes: Dimpy, TMIMS
These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.
As you all know due to this coronavirus lockdown all the universities, colleges and schools have been closed. In this situation, my college is trying hard to prevent our studies from getting affected due to this lockdown.
Our faculties are conducting online classes daily. We have been given the schedules of our classes every week and our classes run online as per the schedules from 10 AM till 1 PM, 3 subjects’ lectures every day. Classes are being conducted on the Zoom Cloud app.
Online classes are not very much effective as compared to physical classes but at least our studies are not getting hampered. Sometimes due to the network issues, we are not able to connect to the online classes. In our practical subjects like Finance, we are not able to solve the practical sums but in theory subjects, the online classes are very much helpful. Most of our courses have been completed before lockdown as the exams were going to held in April end but due to this lockdown exams have been postponed. The syllabus is almost covered. Every day, 3 classes are sufficient to cover all the courses.
We got projects and assignments in every subject. Before we were given projects in which we had to visit industries or companies but due to this lockdown those projects are canceled now and we have been given projects which we can do from home. Every week there is at least one subject’s assignment to be submitted online. Instead of a group, as we used to get earlier, we are getting more individual projects to avoid group gatherings.
The college has been trying to make it possible to give us all the practical knowledge they can. Due to this lockdown situation, they cannot get out of their homes so to impart us practical knowledge they show us online sites and videos and before lockdown, we had an industry visit. They provide us with all the materials and other stuff through which we can get not much but some practical knowledge. They give us projects and assignments on many companies whose data is easily available on the internet and give us topics to research on it. With this, they provide us practical and real-life knowledge.
Besides all the above, the college faculty members take our doubt sessions and they have told us that we can call them any time in case of any doubts.
They are constantly taking our online tests and quizzes which are an important part of our internal marks. They take classes on the topics and then provide us with materials to read. Due to this lockdown, our summer internships are also affected very much. Before, we were supposed to have internships in any industry or company and in any topic of our interests, but now according to the GTU’s guidelines, we have to do internships from home. Our faculties are trying constantly to find work from home internships for their students and many of us are now doing our internships.
