Prepare in the last month for MAT with these key tips
By: Dimpy Karamchandani
Focus on the high scoring topics for devising a plan and consistent practice of each subject is important to crack the competitive exams.
MAT means Management Aptitude Test is a national-level exam for admissions in MBA programme. It is conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) four times a year, i.e. in every three months. It is the entrance exam for getting admission in the management colleges, which are under MAT exam in India. It consists of five sections of 40 questions each.
Last month preparation tips for MAT exam:
Firstly, the students who are appearing for the MAT exam should try giving the MAT exam in the last year/ semester of their graduation. It is not necessary to take tuitions or classes for preparation of the MAT exam. The students could join any online classes and learn it themselves.
Most of the people advise to give equal importance to all the four subjects but from my experience, I can say that one should concentrate more on the subject they are interested in and are good at. As many times, many students do not focus on their preferred subject in and then they end up scoring low marks in the exam. After preparing the strong subjects, the students should concentrate on the other subjects and practise these consistently to score passing marks in that subject.
The students who are appearing for the computer-based exam should give at least four to five mock tests before appearing for the actual exam. One should read the important rules of attempting the questions beforehand and try to remember the same.
Also, do not take stress during the last minute preparation. There are no specific books from where the questions are asked, so completing the syllabus is a challenge for students. The students should always try to jot down the important points like formulae or chapter’s summary in short in one notebook and read it in the last two hours.
The students should try to answer at least 120 questions, i.e. 30 from each subject. Allocate the time to each section in a way so that more time is allocated to the Quant section as one has to solve the problems in it. One should always have one eye on the time and maintain speed and accuracy during the exam.
The common mistakes, which students always make are they try to solve all the questions, however, it is not necessary to answer all the questions. One should answer only those questions in which they are confident. Sometimes, students try to solve the difficult or tricky questions, instead, they should move on to the next question without wasting much time on such questions.
The students can maximise their score by practising consistently, giving mock tests, analysing their strong and weak subjects and practising them accordingly, solving past five years question papers and learning the topics as per their weightage in the previous exams.
The MAT exam can be cleared easily with regular practice and proper time management during the preparation.
