There is no entrance test for admission to MBA programmes, and admissions are done only on the basis of CAT, CMAT and MAT scores.
Here we will share information on MBA admission procedure.
CUSAT offers following MBA programmes under its School of Management Studies:

Admission to MBA programmes are based on CMAT /MAT/ CAT scores, followed by Group Discussion (GD) & Interview.
Generally, Cochin University Science & Technology holds a spot admission for various categories. Candidates with valid CAT, CMAT and MAT scores have to report with all the required documents in original and the fee during spot admissions.
According to an official notice, “For admission to MBA programmes a valid score in any of the management aptitude tests, MAT (conducted by AIMA), C-MAT (conducted by AICTE) or CAT (conducted by IIM) is compulsory. The final rank lists for MBA programme shall be based on the management aptitude test score, the score obtained in the Interview and the score obtained in the Group Discussion in the ratio 70:15:15 respectively.”
Candidates willing to secure a seat to MBA programmes need to ensure that the check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Applications that do not comply by the eligibility criteria well be rejected by the authorities.
CUSAT 2019 eligibility criteria for MBA programmes are:
- Candidates need to be graduates in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks
- Candidates must apply with CMAT, MAT or CAT scores
- Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
Step 1: Fill in the Application form
To be able secure admission to MBA programmes, candidates need to register successfully. The application form can be filled online by interested candidates.
To register for the exam, candidates belonging to General category need to pay Rs 1000 and candidates belonging to SC/ST candidates need to pay Rs 500. Candidates can pay the fee only within two working after online submission of application form. The fee can be paid using either of the following mediums:
- SBI/SBT Internet Banking
- Challan
Step 2: Submit National level exam scores
Admission to MBA programmes is done on the basis of the scores obtained in C-MAT (AICTE)/ K-MAT/CAT-IIM. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the scores obtained in the above mentioned exams.
Step 3: Group Discussion & Personal Interview
Once candidates are shortlisted on the scores obtained in C-MAT (AICTE)/ K-MAT/CAT-IIM, they need to appear for a Group Discussion round. Candidates who clear the Group Discussion will further be called in for the Personal Interview round. The final rank lists for MBA programme shall be based on the management aptitude test score, the score obtained in the Interview and the score obtained in the Group Discussion in the ratio 70:15:15 respectively.
