Bengaluru nursing college gets sealed post reporting 34 COVID-19 cases
The Christian nursing college in Horamavu, Bengaluru has been sealed after it reported 34 active cases of Covid-19.
Amid the fear of a third wave still looming in India, the Nursing College in Horamavu, Bengaluru has reported 34 Covid-19 cases. The Karnataka government has sealed the nursing college to contain the virus and test the people living in the surrounding areas.
As per reports, 34 students out of 300 have been tested positive for Covid-19. All safety precautions have been taken. The area is declared as a micro containment zone and infected students have been shifted to Covid Care Centres for isolation. Their test samples will also be sent for genome sequencing. As a precautionary measure, the government is all set to test nearly 700-800 residents around the college.
The colleges will remain shut for 7-8 days, after which again testing will be done.
Before this, another nursing college in KGF was also found with Covid-19 cases. The Health and Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar has instructed the colleges to be vigilant on students returning from other states. Several students come to study in Karnataka from different parts of the country, the state has nearly 800 nursing colleges and all infected students are from West Bengal and Kerala.
Kerala is still reporting a high number of cases, hence the government has issued separate guidelines for border districts. The students coming from Kerala must be vaccinated and must have a negative RT-PCR test report. The upcoming Ganesh festival is a sensitive and emotional issue in the state and hence the government has pointed out that the people should not forget that the Covid-19 cases went out of control in Kerala after the Onam and Muharram festivals. The government is taking all the necessary precautions to avoid such an outbreak after Ganesh puja. Also, the schools have reopened, hence the government is being extra careful and taking all the precautionary steps as needed.
