Centre committed to quality medical education: Mansukh Mandaviya
On Friday, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the centre is committed to providing transparent examination infrastructure and health services and to build quality medical education.
In a review meeting with the National Medical Commission (NMC), Mansukh Mandaviya informed that the government is relentlessly working to achieve their goal of transparent examination infrastructure and quality medical education.
Recently, the centre approved a 27% OBC reservation in BDS and MBBS from the current academic year. The Union Minister also said that the government is working to ensure that National Exit Test ( NExT) will be conducted in the first half of 2023 as per the plan.
"To test the procedure and remove anxiety among medical students, a Mock Run is also being planned and will be conducted in 2022," he added.
One of the main significance of the NeXT exam is that it will be the same for everyone whether trained in any part of the world. It solves the issue of foreign medical graduates (FMGs) / Mutual recognition.
In the meeting, it was discussed that the NeXT results will be used for qualifying for the final MBBS exam, for merit-based allocation of PG seats in Broad specialities and to get the license to practice modern medicine in India. Union minister and other attendees also discussed how to make the NeXT examination of the world-class standard.
