NEET PG 2021: Exam postponed amid rising COVID-19 cases
NEET PG 2021 exam has been postponed till further notice amid COVID-19 surge across the country. NBE was scheduled to conduct NEET PG 2021 exam on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
NEET PG 2021 exam has been postponed till further notice, the government announced on Thursday. NEET PG 2021 exam was scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021. “In light of the surge in #COVID19 cases,GoI has decided to postpone #NEETPG2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18 Next date to be decided later,” Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan tweeted.“Decision has been taken keeping well-being of our young medical students in mind,” the Minister further said.
Candidates have been demanding to postpone the NEET PG 2021 as corona cases are constantly on the rise. Doctors are on COVID-19 duty and it will be a travelling issue for them, students contended. With hashtag #PostponeNEETPG on Twitter, students were asking the government to defer the exam. Some political leaders also supported students, asking why the government is conducting NEET PG 2021 exam when corona cases are increasing constantly.
The National Board of Examination recently announced that it will conduct NEET PG 2021 as per the schedule. NBE on April 13, 2021 released NEET PG admit card for candidates to appear for the exam. Earlier on April 9, 2021 NBE issued COVID-19 guidelines for the safe conduct of NEET PG 2021 exam. The COVID-19 guidelines comprised precautionary measures candidates need to follow on the exam-day.
Conducted by NBE, NEET PG 2021 is a national entrance exam for admission into various MD (Doctor of Medicine)/ MS (Master in Surgery) and PG Diploma courses across the country. NBE allowed candidates to fill NEET PG application form from February 23, 2021, till March 15, 2021. NEET PG result was scheduled to be declared on May 31, 2021. For the 2021 session, NBE has made some significant changes in the application, exam pattern, and the number of exam centres.
