Rajasthan approves 230 additional MBBS seats in four medical colleges

The reports further state that more medical aspirants will get a chance to pursue their dreams as the medical colleges in Ajmer and Udaipur will now have 50 additional seats, and 30 more seats in Barmer medical college.

Rajasthan government approved a total of 230 additional seats for the MBBS course at four medical colleges in the state. According to an official statement, the National Medical Science Commission also approved the commencement of Srikalyan Government Medical College, Sikar in the session 2020-21. The reports further state that more medical aspirants will get a chance to pursue their dreams as the medical colleges in Ajmer and Udaipur will now have 50 additional seats, and 30 more seats in Barmer medical college. Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma, in a statement, said the number of MBBS seats in the state are now increased by 230.

Comparing the data with last year, the state witnessed an increase of 650 seats. Thus, in the last two years, 880 MBBS seats are increased in the state. In 2018, Health Secretary Vaibhav Galriya stated that there were a total of 1,950 MBBS seats in the state, which are now increased to 2,830.

 While expressing happiness over the approval of a medical college in Sikar, which is a native district, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara shared a tweet via his official Twitter handle stating, "The much-awaited Sikar Medical College has received the approval of the National Medical Science Commission. It is a result of the strong will power of the Congress government of the state that the Sikar people have got their right, their medical college."

Meanwhile, Rajasthan is likely to reopen its schools from November 2, the officials confirmed. The schools across the state were closed for the last 7 months due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country followed by the nationwide lockdown imposed in order to contain the virus. The officials confirmed that the government is planning to reopen schools for at least classes 10 to 12.
