Google Code to Learn Contest: Amid the ongoing closure of schools due to the ongoing pandemic situation, two students from Goa took part in the nationally held "Google Code to Learn Contest" this year. During the contests, the duo developed applications. Google Code to Learn Contest was conducted for students of Classes 5 to 7 and participants were invited from across the country. Congratulating the winners of the Google Code to Learn Contest, Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant said, "Heartiest congratulations to Mast. Venkatesh Dempo on winning the prestigious "Google Code To Learn Contest 2021" and Mast. Viraj Marathe for storming into the finals of the contest. My best wishes go to both of them for a bright future,"
According to the official tweet, developing a mobile application titled "Tourism De Goa", 11-year-old Venkatesh Dempo from Sharada Mandir School came out as the winner. The mobile application developed by Venkatesh aimed at tourists visiting the coastal state. In order to create the mobile applications, Venkatesh used the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) App Inventor. The tourist guide was one of the key features of the application, depicting tourist places such as temples, museums, beaches, hotels, and other places to visit in Goa. The application also includes information regarding Goa's culture and cuisines.
Other than Venkatesh, 11-year-old Viraj Marathe from Dr. KB Hedgewar Vidyamandir School got selected as the finalist after creating the "Covi Companion" application. Viraj’s application aimed at helping COVID-19 positive patients during their quartine period. Featuring health check pedometer, COVID-19 and CoWIN information, the application impressed many. It also allows users to call doctors in case of an emergency.
