ICAI CA Exams to be Held Thrice Now; Registration Starts for September Phase

ICAI has announced that the CA exams will now be held three times a year- May, September and January. So far, the CA exams have been held two times a year. Read all about the changes in ICAI CA exam schedule here.

CA Foundation and CA Intermediate exams will be held three times a year from this year. The ICAI has recently made an announcement, increasing the ICAI exam phases from two to three. The CA Final exam however, will continue to be held only thrice.  

As per the official ICAI notification, “The Institute has decided that from May/June 2024 onwards, Intermediate & Foundation course Examinations will be held thrice in a year in the month of May/June, September and January from the existing practice of twice a year and CA Final course examination will continue to be held twice a year in the month of May and November.”

Further explaining the examination process, the ICAI CA notification informed, “Students who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria for admission to the Foundation course examination i.e. registered with the Board of Studies of the Institute for a minimum period of four months on or before the 1st day of the month in which the examination is held along with other eligibility conditions specified in Regulation 25F and for Intermediate course Examination i.e. registered with the Board of Studies of the Institute and produces a certificate to the effect that he has undergone a study course for a period of not less than eight months as on the first day of the month in which the examination is held along with other eligibility conditions specified in Regulation 28G can appear in the next eligible exam.

CA Foundation and CA Inter Registration Deadline for September 2024 exams:

Given below is the registration deadline for CA Foundation and CA Intermediate exams, September 2024:

• CA Foundation Exam September 2024: May 1, 2024.
• CA Intermediate Exam January 2025: May 1, 2024 (through both routes)

Also, students who have registered in CA Intermediate Course either through Foundation Route or Direct Entry Route up to January 1, 2024 can appear in CA Intermediate exam, September 2024.

CA Intermediate and CA Final exams May 2024 will be held between May 2 and May 17. The CA Foundation exam for the same phase will be held from June 20 to 26, 2024.
