SPA & ISSDA to promote stainless steel knowledge in architectural applications
The students will get hands-on experience of the applications of stainless steel through static and mobile demonstration centers called Architectural Stainless Steel Demonstration Centers.
New Delhi’s School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) and Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) are collaborating to promote knowledge about the use of stainless steel in the field of architecture and enhance academic-industry partnership.
With regards to this, an MoU was signed recently by Director, SPA, Prof. Dr. P.S.N. Rao, and President, ISSDA, K K Pahuja. Through the MoU, both institutions plan to promote innovative architectural technologies and materials across buildings and the construction industry with the common objective of advancing the field of architecture design.
For this, SPA and ISSDA plan to implement a series of activities including online and offline courses on stainless steel for architecture students, industry visits for students and faculty to gain a real-time experience of the manufacturing process of stainless steel, seminars and workshops, and model projects by students in the domain of stainless steel.
The students will get hands-on experience of the applications of stainless steel through static and mobile demonstration centers called Architectural Stainless Steel Demonstration Centers. ISSDA will provide domain expertise in various aspects of stainless-steel usage and will also assist the students in their research papers.
Speaking about the collaboration, Prof. Dr. P.S.N. Rao, Director, SPA, said, “Stainless steel is the metal of the future. Its versatile characteristics need to be leveraged across a wide variety of architectural applications. With ISSDA’s support, we plan to take the first step towards equipping tomorrow’s creators with knowledge on this robust metal.” Adding to it, K K Pahuja, President, ISSDA, said, “ISSDA is privileged to collaborate with SPA in this exciting area when sustainable urbanization and infrastructure building is being given a big push by the Government. We hope to not only disseminate information about stainless steel usage but also enhance knowledge by collaborative research in newer architectural designs & applications to provide sustainable solutions for nation-building.”
