Assam Chief Minister asks officials to speed up construction of medical colleges
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the concerned officials to speed up the construction of medical colleges, universities model degree colleges, engineering colleges, etc.
While attending a meeting, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the PWD (Building) officials to speed up construction of medical colleges, universities model degree colleges, engineering colleges, etc.
Himanta Biswa Sarma's tweet reads, "Asked PWD (Building) officials during a meeting to speed up construction of medical colleges, universities, model degree colleges, engineering colleges, etc. Also, directed them to submit specific fund requirements immediately for incorporation in upcoming State Budget, 2022-23."
"Infra development is our priority. For expeditious execution of roads under PMGSY, Asom Mala, SOPD, etc, besides railway overbridges & flyovers, held a meeting with PWD (Roads) officials. I also took note of the hurdles in project execution & initiated steps to resolve them," he added.
Assam Chief Minister announces 14 new medical colleges by 2025
The state is upgrading its healthcare infrastructure and also increasing the number of medical colleges. Assam CM has announced that the state will have 14 more medical colleges by 2025.
Last month, he also inaugurated the Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital (LMHC) and had asked the health department to take necessary measures for starting online booking for outpatient departments (OPDs).
Assam PWD has prepared the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of five NABARD (National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development) funded medical colleges and hospitals and submitted them to the Assam Infrastructure Finance Authority (AIFA), Government of Assam. These five medical colleges are expected to be in Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, Morigaon, Golaghat and Tamulpur, as reported by The Sentinel.
