Assam gets NMC's approval for 9th medical college in Dhubri

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved a new medical college at Dhubri in Assam for starting the MBBS course with an intake of 100 students annually from the academic year 2022-23.

Assam has received the approval of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for a new medical college at Dhubri in Assam, making it the ninth such institute in the North Eastern state.

NMC's Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) has granted approval for starting the MBBS course with an intake of 100 students annually from the academic year 2022-23.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "Glad to share that the MBBS course of new Dhubri Medical College (9th medical college of Assam) under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences with 100 seats has received the approval of Medical Assessment & Rating Board under the National Medical Commission."

 

The new Dhubri medical college is established under the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences by the Government of Assam.

NMC sends LOI to Dean/Principal of Dhubri medical college

The new medical college in Dhubri received the NMC's Letter of Intent (LOI) for 100 MBBS seats. The NMC's letter reads, "The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC examined the Assessor's report and remarks of the UG Expert Groups on the infrastructure facilities of the college, laboratories, library, hostels, hospital and availability of the faculty, their experience, publications and residents/tutors, nursing and paramedical staff available with other facilities available at Dhubri Medical College, Dhubri under the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences for starting of MBBS course for the academic year 2022-23."

NMC's letter further added that the Dhubri Medical College should provide all infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, building, equipment and hospital facilities as per the NMC norms and no student should be admitted to the MBBS course in the college till the formal permission of MARB is sent.
