Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has launched the ‘Bodoland Super 50 Mission’ to prepare Bodo youths for competitive examinations. The project of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration aims at helping engineering aspirants belonging to economically weaker sections of five Bodo dominated districts of Assam.

Under the mission, free residential coaching will be given to students from BTR for 11 months to help them prepare for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam so that they can gain entry to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other premiere engineering institutes.

All about the mission

A total of 10 candidates will be shortlisted from each district of Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur and Udalguri through an entrance examination. Candidates will be shortlisted for the coaching every year. The Assam Governor in a statement said, “If we are to think about the development of Bodoland, we have to be self-dependent.” BTR chief Pramod Boro thanked the Assam governor for launching the programme.

The Delhi government is also planning to provide free preparatory coaching for popular entrance exams such as NEET and JEE to students willing to make their career in the field of engineering, medical and other technical fields. An agreement has been signed between the Directorate of Education (DoE) and ‘Avanti Fellows’ to prepare students for the entrance examinations.
