Bihar Schools, Colleges Reopen: The state government of Bihar has decided to reopen schools, colleges and coaching institutes for offline classes. The decision to continue physical classes has been taken considering the improved COVID-19 situation in the state. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on February 6, 2022, announced that schools in the state can reopen with 50 per cent strength for up to Class 8. However, Class 9 and above are allowed to reopen with full strength.
Colleges and coaching institutes have also been allowed to resume offline classes with 100 percent capacity.
The Chief Minister tweeted, “In view of the improvement in the situation of corona infection, all schools up to Class 8 can open with 50 per cent capacity and all schools for Class 9 and above, colleges and coaching institutes can open with 100 per cent attendance.”
In the month of January, Bihar announced the closure of schools for Class 1 to 8 amid the rise in COVID-19 and Omicron cases in the state.
However, schools from Class 9 and above, colleges were allowed to reopen with 50 per cent strength.
Now, after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state, many states in February reopened schools, colleges for physical classes. Delhi government also announced the reopening of schools for Classes 9-12, colleges and coaching centres from Monday and for lower classes, schools can reopen from February 14.
Meanwhile, the central government has also released a revised version of COVID-19 guidelines for the reopening of schools. States and Union Territories have got the control to decide if parents need to give consent to their children attending offline classes.
