The Bomb threat was communicated to the schools through an email, which initially alerted authorities to bomb threats at four schools. Later, two additional schools informed the police of similar threats.
A bomb threat was received at six schools across Delhi-NCR this morning, prompting immediate action from the fire brigade and local police forces. The schools affected by the threat are located in various parts of the National Capital Region, including East of Kailash DPS, Salwan Public School, Modern School, Bhatnagar Public School in Paschim Vihar, Venkatesh Public School in Rohini, and Cambridge School. Authorities have confirmed that thorough searches are currently underway, though no suspicious items have been discovered so far.
Bomb Threat Sent via Email, Investigation Underway
The threat was communicated to the schools through an email, which initially alerted authorities to bomb threats at four schools. Later, two additional schools informed the police of similar threats. As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of any bombs or explosives being found on any school premises.
This recent incident is part of a disturbing trend of bomb threats targeting various institutions, including schools, hospitals, airports, and other public facilities, over the past few months. With the upcoming Delhi elections just a few months away, the authorities are treating every security threat with the utmost seriousness to ensure public safety.
Suspension of Classes and Heightened Alert
In response to the threat on Friday morning, the affected schools suspended classes for the day, advising students not to come to school. Parents were informed about the situation, and several children were sent home as a precautionary measure. This incident marks the second bomb threat within a week, as another similar threat was made on December 9, targeting around 40 schools in Delhi. In that case, the police conducted thorough searches and found nothing suspicious, despite the alarming emails.
Authorities Remain Vigilant Despite Rise in Hoax Calls
Although there has been an increase in hoax bomb threats, authorities are not taking any chances. Security agencies are continuing to take these threats seriously, as any oversight could result in devastating consequences. According to an India Today report, the Friday threat included claims of a "secret dark web" group and several "red rooms" involved in the placement of the bomb. The email also suggested that the bomb was strategically placed to coincide with the scheduled parent-teacher meetings at the schools. So far, the IP address of the sender has not been traced.
Parents Express Concern as Schools Alerted Late
Although the classes had not yet begun by the time the bomb threat was received, many parents had already begun arriving at the schools. One parent noted that while DPS had sent out a message to inform them, they did not receive the text until they had reached the school gate. Furthermore, the message did not mention the bomb threat, leaving some parents unaware of the gravity of the situation until they arrived at the school.
As investigations continue and security measures are intensified, schools and parents in the region are remaining cautious while hoping that the threat proves to be another hoax.
