Expected JEE Main 2025 Cutoff for JEE Advanced After Day 1 Exam
JEE Main 2025 January 22 exam is over. The exam has been rated moderate in both shifts with the cutoff for JEE Advanced exam qualification projected to be similar or slightly more than last year. Read details below.
Day 1 of the JEE Main 2025 January session exam was held today, January 22. After the Day 1 exam, various subject matter experts have forecasted that this year the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for the JEE Advanced exam will stay the same or rise a bit. Students said that the exam was overall moderate. Maths was moderate and very lengthy in shift 1 and shift 2, Physics was moderate in both shifts and Chemistry was easy in both the shifts. As per the overall difficulty level of the exam, experts have projected that the minimum JEE Main 2025 maks to qualify for the JEE Advanced exam will be between 91 to 95 percentile for the general category candidates.

IIT Kanpur has announced that a total of 2.5 lakh candidates will be selected for JEE Advanced 2025. However, the total number of candidates may slightly exceed 2,50,000 in the event of tied ranks or scores within any category. Last year, the total number of candidates selected was 2,50,284. As the conducting IIT for JEE Advanced 2025, IIT Kanpur has specified the number of candidates to be selected from each category as follows: 1,01,250 from the open category, 25,000 from the general EWS category, 67,500 from OBC-NCL, 37,500 from SC and 18,750 from ST. Additionally, within each of these five categories, a 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
Last year, the cutoff for the JEE Mains exam to qualify for JEE Advanced saw a significant spike, marking the highest value in the past five years. The cutoffs were as follows:
- UR (General): 93.2362181

- UR-PWD (General - Persons with Disabilities): 0.0018700
- SC (Scheduled Caste): 60.0923182

The JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025 will be announced by the NTA after both sessions of the JEE Main 2025 exam are completed. The first day of the JEE Main 2025 Session 1 exam was held today, with exams continuing on January 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30. Session 2 will take place from April 1 to 8, and registrations for Session 2 will begin on January 31. The JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced will be released by April 17, along with the results for Session 2. The All India Rank (AIR) for JEE Main 2025 will also be announced with the Session 2 results. The result for the January session of JEE Main 2025 will be declared by February 12.
The JEE Main 2025 cutoff for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be determined based on the cap for candidates to be selected in each category, as well as several other factors. These factors include the total number of seats available in the IITs for the upcoming session, the overall number of candidates appearing for JEE Main, and the difficulty level of the exam.
Registration for JEE Advanced 2025 will begin on April 23 for candidates who have qualified JEE Main. The registration process will be available at jeeadv.ac.in. To apply, candidates must authenticate themselves by entering their JEE (Main) Application Number, Name, and Date of Birth as mentioned on their JEE (Main) 2025 admit card. The JEE Advanced 2025 exam is scheduled to be held on May 18.
