BSE Odisha Exam: Investigation into viral audio on teacher-parent Malpractice deal

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has started conducting the Odisha BSE exams 2023 from March 10. An audio went viral featuring a deal between a parent and a teacher to allow BSE Odisha 10th students for malpractice.

An audio went viral featuring a deal between a parent and a teacher to permit BSE Odisha 10th students to indulge in malpractice. The State Govt has ordered an investigation into the matter. The education minister has discussed with the BSE President Ramashis Hazra to probe the matter and submit a report within three days. 

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has started conducting the Odisha BSE exams 2023 from March 10. The Odisha BSE exams 2023 will be held till March 20, 2023. More than five lakh students are appearing for the matriculation exams at 3128 centres across Odisha. In the viral audio clip, the parent requests the teacher of Exam centre at Nimapada over phone to permit the student to do malpractice. 

It is being alleged that teachers at the centre are helping students in malpractice in exchange for a huge amount of money from the parents. The exam centre falls within the constituency of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash. Reacting to this, Dash said that appropriate action will be taken following an inquiry into the alleged incident.

As per the official sources, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has formed 74 squads including 36 board officials apart from observers and nodal officers to check cheating during the exam. To ensure safety and fairness during the Odisha BSE exam, exam centres are under CCTV surveillance.
