CBSE has relaxed guidelines and allowed Class 10 students with Basic Mathematics to opt for Mathematics in Class 11 as well. Read on to know more.
CBSE Class 10 students who have studied Mathematics Basic will now also be able to opt for Mathematics subject in Class 11. Before COVID, only those students who studied Mathematics Standard subjects in Class 10 were allowed to take Mathematics in Class 11. However, the same was relaxed due to COVID-19. The decision has been aimed at helping the students as this session has also been adversly affected due to COVID-19. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official notification on its official website regarding the same. It has also been stated that the exemption is being given as a special measure to facilitate the present batch, that is, 2022-23 of students of Class 11
βAs the current session has also been adversely affected by COVID-19, hence, it has been decided to further extend this relaxation for one year 2020-23,β read an official statement from CBSE.
CBSE explained that the students of Class 10 who have studied Mathematics Standard (041) could study Mathematics (041) in Class 11. Students who studied Mathematics Basic (241) were allowed to take only Applied Mathematics in Class 11. The Board relaxed this rule for the past two years because of the circumstances developed due to the pandemic.
βYou are aware that session 2022 has also been affected severely by Covid and the session has already been delayed, now there is a need for the remaining activities of this session to be completed on time,β the board said in a letter to school principals.
However, CBSE has asked schools to make sure that such students have the aptitude and ability to study Mathematics in Class 11. βBefore permitting Mathematics in Class 11 to such students, the Head of the Institution should satisfy that the students are having the aptitude and ability to pursue Mathematics in Class 11,β it stated.
