This initiative is designed to help students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, which are becoming increasingly vital in a technology-driven world.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as its annual training theme for the year 2025. This initiative is designed to help students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, which are becoming increasingly vital in a technology-driven world.
CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh emphasized the importance of STEM education in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future, saying that this focus will help shape well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills needed in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Capacity Building Programmes to Enhance STEM Teaching
In alignment with the annual theme, the CBSE will implement Capacity Building Programmes (CBPs) to improve the effectiveness of STEM teaching in classrooms. These specialized training sessions aim to help educators integrate STEM-focused methodologies and foster a culture of innovation and inquiry. The CBPs will run alongside CBSE's regular teacher training initiatives, ensuring that educators stay at the forefront of pedagogical advancements.
Additionally, CBSE has launched the 3030 Eklavya STEM Education Online Series in collaboration with IIT Gandhinagar. This initiative aims to provide subject teachers with 30 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training through 10 interactive sessions. The programme includes hands-on STEM activities and assignments designed to deepen teachers' conceptual understanding, promote critical thinking, and enhance their problem-solving abilities.
3030 Eklavya STEM Education Online Series: Dates and Details
The 3030 Eklavya STEM Education Online Series kicked off with its first episode on January 26, 2025, and future episodes are scheduled for February 9, 16, and 23. The sessions will be streamed live every Sunday at 4 PM and will also be available on the CCL YouTube channel for wider accessibility. Each episode will consist of lectures, homework, and projects, ensuring that participants engage deeply with the material.
The programme’s 10 sessions will allow educators to gain a total of 30 hours of CPD training (3 hours per session), enhancing their teaching skills and fostering a more interactive classroom environment.
Certificates and Recognition for Participants
Upon successful completion of the 3030 Eklavya STEM Education Programme, participants will receive valuable certifications. Teachers can obtain the Participation Certificate or a Certificate of Competency (or Teacher Training), both of which are available for a nominal fee of Rs. 200 plus applicable taxes.
Support for Students During Board Exams
In addition to its focus on STEM education, CBSE has also taken steps to support students during the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 board exams, which will begin on February 15, 2025. The board has issued admit cards for both regular and private students via the Pariksha Sangam portal. To support students through this crucial period, CBSE is also offering free psycho-social counselling services, scheduled to run until April 4, 2025. These counselling sessions will provide mental health support and guidance, helping students cope with exam-related stress.
With the emphasis on STEM education, CBSE is striving to equip both students and teachers with the tools they need for success in an ever-evolving technological landscape. The 3030 Eklavya STEM Education Online Series serves as a step forward in enhancing teachers’ knowledge and improving the quality of STEM education across the country. Through these forward-thinking initiatives, CBSE aims to foster a generation of students who are innovative, adaptable, and ready to thrive in a world driven by technology and innovation.
