The Central Board of Secondary Education confirmed that the pending exams for CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th students will be conducted. The confirmation came after the rumours regarding the cancellation of CBSE 10th board exams started making rounds on the internet. The Board also made this clear that it will be holding exams for 29 main subjects (the subjects that are crucial for promotion and admissions to undergraduate courses) only.
According to the reports, the rumours regarding the cancellation of CBSE 10th exams came after Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia urged the Central government to cancel CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams. He also suggested the promotion of the students on the basis of internal assessment marks. However, CBSE confirmed that CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams will be conducted.
CBSE Board Exams 2020: 10 Important Points
Various reports regarding the CBSE pending exams created confusion among students and parents. In order to simplify the process of CBSE pending exams for the student, Shiksha.com compiled 10 important points that students who are yet to appear for the exams must know.
- CBSE's Controller of the exam, Sanyam Bhardwaj in the latest press release stated that there is no change in the Board’s decision. CBSE will conduct the pending exams for class 10 and 12.
- The Board clarified that all stakeholders will be given an adequate time of 10 days before starting the examinations.
- According to a previous communication from the Board released on April 1, the CBSE will be conducting pending exams for important papers, which means, the exams will be conducted for class 12 students and class 10 students from the riot-affected areas of northeast Delhi who missed their exams in February.
- Regarding the pending annual class 10 and class 12 examinations of various state boards, respective states are yet to make decisions, however, most state boards have decided to take an appropriate decision after the lockdown is lifted.
- No CBSE exams will be conducted for students in foreign countries.
- CBSE will release CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Date Sheet 2020 well in advance to give enough time to the students for preparation.
- The Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” asked the examination boards to begin the evaluation process of the answer sheets and facilitate CBSE to evaluate answer sheets of the students in their respective States.
- The CBSE answer sheet evaluation will take another one to one and a half months to complete. According to the reports, 2 lakh teachers will be evaluating the papers of 36 lakhs students. Students waiting for the CBSE 10th Result 2020 and CBSE 12th Result 2020 will have to wait a little longer.
- According to the HRD ministry officials, the authorities have planned to conduct JEE Mains and NEET entrance exams in June for admission to engineering and medical colleges.
- The other undergraduate admissions will take place as per the UGC guidelines 2020 regarding examinations and new academic calendar released by the University Grants Commission on April 29.
