The Council for Indian School Certification Examinations (CISCE) has shared guidelines with students and teachers to make sure that students do not lose their time during the lockdown period. The guidelines pertain to the utilisation of the duration of lockdown. The CISCE urged teachers to not only utilise modern and digital devices but also urged them to go further than this. The Council urged teachers to study the pupil performance analysis prudently and help them mentor on how to solve question paper and how to prepare for ISC and ICSE board exams. It also urged them to send worksheets, assessment sheets and project work to be finished during this period.

According to the council, students need to be equipped with 21st-century skills such as scientific temper, medial literacy, critical thinking, communication, creativity, technological literacy etc in order to be future-ready. It further informed that teachers could not only utilise this time to achieve a better understanding of these skills but also design ground-breaking activities that assist in nurturing these talents. It held that the shutdown of school and academic work being put on hold was a major concern for the council. It asked schools to make substitute arrangements. The council made some suggestions including MHRD’s e-learning portal to Zoom app. It further added that the board has left it to the choice of teachers and students.

The country is going through a lockdown to evade the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown is scheduled to finish on April 15. A number of board exams including CISCE have been deferred and modified dates will be declared after the lockdown.
