COVID-19 impact: Rajasthan govt directs private schools not to take advance fees during lockdown

The Rajasthan government ordered schools not to take fees in advance from students until COVID-19 lockdown gets over. The government barred schools from taking three months' advance fee. On April 9, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, conducted a video conference with education ministers and officials to review the status of the academic session and preparations for the upcoming session in all academic institutions, including schools, colleges during the lockdown.

The Chief Minister also stated that schools cannot debar any student from attending classes or cancel his/her enrolment due to lack of fees.

The state government also directed the schools to promote students of classes 1 to 9 and 11 to the higher class. However, no such order is given regarding students of RBSE class 10 and RBSE class 12. In the video conference, the CM also said that higher education and technical education institutes can declare their summer vacation from April 15 onwards.

While taking the decisions, officials and state ministers Bhanwar Singh Bhati, Govind Singh Dotasara and Subhas Garg were also present in the meeting conducted by Mr Ashok Gehlot.

During the meeting, Higher Education Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati revealed that a five-member committee is formed to decide revised exam schedules of universities. The School Education Minister, Govind Singh Dotasara expressed that in order to provide sufficient study material to students, they have published the school books online.

Technical Education Minister, Subhash Garg also contributed by stating that they are conducting mid-semester exams online. In order to continue the learning process among the students, they have launched a YouTube channel where over 600 lectures are uploaded.
