The circular stipulates that no student should be refused admission if they have been allotted a school under the Non-Plan Admission process, provided there are no discrepancies in their documents.
Delhi Government School Admission 2024: The Department of Education (DoE) issued a circular on Wednesday addressing recent concerns about students being denied admission to classes 9 and 10 in Delhi's government and government-aided schools. The circular stipulates that no student should be refused admission if they have been allotted a school under the Non-Plan Admission process, provided there are no discrepancies in their documents. The move follows reports that some students were turned away due to the lack of Aadhaar or bank account details.
Guidelines for Non-Plan Admission Process
According to the DoE circular, children up to class eight will be admitted throughout the academic session in age-appropriate classes under the Right to Education Act (RTE). The circular also clarified that the absence of an Aadhaar card or bank account should not be a barrier to admission. The admission process for students allocated schools in previous Non-Plan Admission cycles must be finalized by September 16, 2024.
Criteria for Age-Appropriate Classes
The circular notes that students who have completed their previous class from a recognized school or board during the 2023-24 academic year will not be subjected to age-appropriate class criteria. Additionally, it advises against transferring students after mid-term examinations but allows for exceptions in genuine cases, subject to approval by the Zonal or District Grievance Redressal Committee.
This circular aims to streamline the admission process and ensure that students' educational rights are upheld.
