The Delhi Department of Education (DoE) is set to release the first merit list for nursery admissions today, January 17, 2025. Parents who registered their children for admission in the nursery, kindergarten (KG), or Class 1 for the 2025-26 academic session can check the merit list on the official website, edudel.nic.in.
Delhi Nursery Admission First Merit List Release and Download Process
The first merit list will be available for download through the official portal. To access the list, parents need to use their login credentials, including the registration number and date of birth of the child.
As per the admission criteria, a significant portion of seats is reserved for children from economically weaker sections (EWS), disadvantaged groups (DG), and children with disabilities in private schools. 25% of the total seats in these schools are reserved for these categories.

Distance Criteria in Merit List
One of the key factors in the merit list selection process is the distance from the school. Points are awarded as follows:
- 50 points for homes located within 6 kilometres of the school.
- 40 points for homes situated between 6 to 8 kilometres from the school.
- 30 points for homes that are 8 to 15 kilometres away.
In case of a tie between candidates, the DoE will conduct a draw of lots to decide the final selection. This process may be carried out either through a computerized system or by drawing slips, and the entire process will be recorded on video for transparency. The video footage will be retained by the school.
Query Resolution Process
After the release of the first merit list, parents can raise admission-related queries between January 18 and January 27, 2025. The second merit list will be issued on February 3, with a query resolution window running from February 5 to February 11, 2025. The subsequent merit list, if necessary, will be released by February 26, with admissions concluding by March 14, 2025.
