With the forecast indicating continued heavy rainfall, Delhi's Education Minister Atishi confirmed that all schools will remain shut for the day. "In light of the very heavy rainfall this evening and the forecast of more heavy rainfall tomorrow, all schools - government and private - will remain closed," Atishi stated in a post on X.

Delhi Schools Closed amid Heavy Rain, waterlogging

Delhi Education Minister Atishi has announced that all schools in the national capital, including both government and private institutions, will remain closed today due to the ongoing heavy rainfall.

IMD Issues Travel Advisory

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that clouds have converged over Delhi from all directions. This weather pattern has prompted an advisory urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel as the city grapples with severe weather conditions.

Government Response

On Wednesday evening, Delhi and its surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) experienced a significant downpour, which brought relief from the humid weather but led to widespread traffic congestion. Waterlogging was reported in multiple areas, exacerbating the situation.

Flight Disruptions and Safety Warnings

In response to the heavy rain, several airlines have issued advisories regarding flight diversions. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights and make travel arrangements accordingly. At least 10 flights, including one from Tokyo, have been diverted due to the adverse weather conditions.

Ongoing Weather Forecast

The IMD forecasts that intermittent showers are likely to continue in Delhi until August 5. The persistent rainfall has already caused several incidents, including the collapse of houses in various parts of the city. In Chandni Chowk's Sadar Bazar, one person was reported trapped due to the severe weather.
