Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reaffirmed the Modi government's commitment to shaping the future through the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), emphasizing its focus on inclusive education and a dynamic learning environment. He highlighted the importance of promoting multilingualism and mother tongue education, with a special emphasis on the Tamil language, recognized as one of the oldest classical languages in the world. The Modi government has taken significant steps to promote Tamil at various forums, including the recent launch of a dedicated Tamil educational channel.
Responding to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Pradhan urged that political differences should not overshadow the education and future of children. He called on CM Stalin to prioritize the children's right to world-class education over political agendas, stating that anything less would be a great betrayal.

He pointed out that tens of lakhs of students from Tamil Nadu have already benefited from the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, which aligns with NEP 2020’s goals. Pradhan highlighted that the PM SHRI Scheme aims to develop over 14,500 exemplar schools across India, showcasing the initiatives of NEP 2020. He stressed the importance of Tamil Nadu's participation in this scheme to further enhance the quality of education in the state.
