Samagra Shiksha has been fully aligned with the recommendation of the National Education Policy 2020.

The Government of India has committed a significant financial outlay of Rs. 2,94,283.04 Crore for the continuation of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme from 2021-22 to 2025-26. This substantial budget, with a Central share amounting to Rs. 1,85,398.32 Crore, highlights the government's dedication to enhancing the educational landscape in the country. Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the Samagra Shiksha Scheme aims to improve school effectiveness, ensure equal educational opportunities, and foster equitable learning outcomes across the nation, covering the span from preschool to Class 12.

The scheme, established in 2017, amalgamates the erstwhile schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE). Its objectives revolve around implementing the NEP 2020 recommendations, supporting the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, emphasizing early childhood care, foundational literacy, numeracy, and imparting 21st-century skills among students. Furthermore, it aims to bridge social and gender gaps, ensuring equity, and inclusion at all levels of education.

Several significant interventions have been outlined under the scheme, focusing on universal access, foundational literacy, gender equity, quality education, digital initiatives, vocational education, sports, and physical education, among others. Moreover, efforts to strengthen teacher education and training, monitoring, and program management are integral components of this initiative.

A detailed report of activities carried out from January 1st, 2023, to December 31st, 2023, showcases the scheme's progress and impact. These activities include the successful implementation of VidyaPravesh, a play-based 'School Preparation Module' for Grade I students, covering a substantial number of schools and students across various states and union territories.

Additionally, initiatives such as the National Initiative for School Heads' and Teachers' Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA), the establishment of VidyaSameeksha Kendra (VSK), career counseling provisions at block levels, and the transformation of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) into centers of excellence are underway to enhance the educational infrastructure and quality of teaching.

A special focus has been placed on inclusive education for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), with provisions for their enrollment, support, stipends, aids, and appliances, home-based education, and resource support through special educators. This emphasis reflects the government's commitment to ensuring a more inclusive and accessible education system for all.

The Samagra Shiksha Scheme's comprehensive approach toward holistic education and inclusivity stands as a testament to India's endeavor to provide quality education and bridge educational disparities across the nation.
