Traffic jams amid Board Exams become nightmare for Class 10, 12 students

Farmers’ Protest March: Traffic chaos amid the ongoing Board Exam 2024 is a matter of stress and concern for students and parents. With CISCE, CBSE along with other ongoing state board exams 2024, Delhi's borders at Singhu, Tikri, and UP Gate stand sealed, with concrete walls and barbed wires fortifying farmers' entry. The authorities are all geared up to prevent farmers from entering the capital amidst fears of a renewed protest. However, all the preparations to control farmers’ entry in the national capital is apparently turning out to be a nightmare for students rushing for their theory or practical board exams 2024.

Traffic jams, nightmare for Class 10, 12 students

ISC Board Exam 2024 commenced on February 12 and will go on until April 3. CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exam 2024 are slated to commence from February 15, 2024. With section 144 imposed until March 13, it appears the students are going face problems reaching exam centre during this period.

“My ISC board exam centre is in Ghaziabad. Traveling from Delhi to the exam centre was horrific on day 1 of my class 12 board exam. We did leave way early in the morning to reach the centre on time. However, the massive traffic jam resulted in delays. Thankfully I reached the exam centre just few minutes before the gate was about to close. I am scared for rest of my exams. Government should do something about it. We are already tensed about our exams, we don’t want additional worries,” shared Sourabh Jain, a Class 12 student of St. Marys Convent School.

Starting Tuesday, with preparations and restrictions Delhi Police imposed Section 144 of the CrPC for a month. Around 10,000 officers deployed at the three borders. Traffic disruptions are anticipated, with police measures including checks and potential diversion routes. The possibility of prolonged traffic disruptions raises concerns, particularly for parents of students appearing for board exams. Shobhana Dasgupta, Principal of a school in Noida, also highlighted potential disruptions to exam schedules, affecting both Class X and XII students.

How to combat traffic during Farmers’ Protest?

Students and daily commuters are advised to use metro trains to travel across borders. Restrictions and preparations are going to impact traffic on the Delhi-Noida borders. Crossing the border is expected to become even more time-consuming. Noida police has also advised commuters to use the metro to mitigate the inconvenience. Students prepping to appear for board exam are advised to leave their home the earliest to reach exam centres on time. They can also shift to hostel or PGs near their exam centres until the problem subsides to avoid stress related to traffic jams.
