Jharkhand to launch 80 Schools of Excellence today

The enrolled students will receive vocational training in 11 trades, including agriculture, IT, apparel, beauty, home furnishing, media and entertainment. 

Jharkhand is set to launch 80 district-level schools of excellence today (May 2, 2023). Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will inaugurate these schools from Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo High School located at Dhurwa in Ranchi, one of those 80 schools of excellence across various districts of the state.  

"All these 80 schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), where children will be taught in English medium. These schools can be seen as actualisation of dreams of such children to receive education that shall help them embark on the path of a better future,” the CMO office said. 

The enrolled students will receive vocational training in 11 trades, including agriculture, IT, apparel, beauty, home furnishing, media and entertainment, automobiles, tourism and hospitality, electronics and hardware, retail and healthcare. The state government also plans to facilitate work training through industrial field visits to state-level establishments associated with these trades in order to help the students explore employment opportunities.  

Besides, the state government's has set a target of establishing 325 block-level leader schools and 4,091 pram panchayat-level model schools across the state and providing quality education opportunities to more than 15 lakh school children studying in government schools.   

It is for the first time that significant efforts are being undertaken to develop as well as enhance the quality of education of the government schools at par with the private schools of the state. It may be noted that the state government has set a target of establishing 80 district-level Schools of Excellence, 325 block-level Leader schools and 4,091 gram panchayat level Model schools across the state and providing quality education opportunities to more than 15 lakh school children studying in government schools.  

Online training of Principals of 80 schools of wxcellence has already been given by the National Center for School Leadership in two phases. Further, the training of Principals of 80 schools of excellence has also been completed in two phases by the Azim Premji Foundation,” stated an official communiqué from the CMO office.
