CBSE and ICSE boards are asked not to conduct exams in July as per the revised schedule and push them further or to mark students on the basis of their internal evaluation for the entire year.
Maharashtra government sent a letter to the heads of the CBSE and ICSE boards requesting them not to conduct exams in July as per the revised schedule and push them further or to mark students on the basis of their internal evaluation for the entire year. The request is made considering the ongoing pandemic situation in the country. According to the data released by the Health Ministry, Maharashtra is severely hit by the novel coronavirus with a total number of 77,793 positive cases that are increasing continuously.

In the letter sent to the boards on June 4, the Maharashtra government said that in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis in the state, students would find it difficult to travel to their centres. The conduct of CBSE and ICSE examinations would mean risking the health of several students. Thus, it’s stated that it would not be able to permit the boards to conduct the exams in the state as there is too much risk involved. The state asked the board to consider two options, one- conduct pending exams for CBSE 10th, CBSE 12th, ICSE 10th, ISC 12th on later dates, or mark students on the basis of their performance in the internal assessments.
On May 22, ICSE re-scheduled pending papers of ICSE Class 10 Board Exams 2020 and ISC Class 12 Board Exams 2020. According to the ICSE 2020 Date Sheet and ISC 2020 Date Sheet, the Class 10 board exams and Class 12 board exams were scheduled to be conducted between March 19 and March 31, 2020.
While 8 papers of ISC Board Exams 2020 are pending, 6 papers of ICSE Board Exams 2020 are left to be conducted. As per the board’s revised schedule, the papers for ICSE Class 10 Board Exams 2020 would now be held between July 2 and 12 while ISC Class 12 exams would be held between July 1 and 14. Similarly, CBSE announced the revised schedule for CBSE 10th Board Exams 2020 and CBSE 12th Board Exams 2020 pending papers. While the Board Exams for CBSE 10th students are overall across the country except for the students of Delhi’s north-east district, the CBSE 12th exams are pending for many students all over India. According to the revised schedule, CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th pending papers will be conducted between July 1 and July 15.
Stating that cancellation of exams might not be possible considering that too many papers are left, an official from the ICSE board said, “We have already told students in a circular released last month that in a situation wherein they cannot write the exam, they can send a representation through the school and the board would allow them to appear for the exam at the time of compartmental exams conducted at a later date. If internal exam marks are considered, many parents would object to it again.”

The government also asked both the boards to provide data of students who have appeared for both - Class 10 and 12 board exams and would conduct a virtual meeting with the heads of both the boards on Saturday i.e. June 6.
This suggests that CBSE 10th result 2020, CBSE 12th results 2020, ICSE 2020 results and ISC 2020 results are not releasing anytime soon. If the boards agree to conduct the board exams on later dates then the release of Class 10 board results 2020 and Class 12 board results 2020 would be pushed to somewhere August. However, if the board choose to mark students on the basis of their internal evaluation for the entire year then we can expect that 10th board results 2020 and 12th board results 2020 would be out anytime in July.
