Mahindra Truck & Bus Division launches Scholarship Scheme for Truck Drivers' Daughters

This initiative, launched under the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, is a testament to Mahindra's ongoing commitment to empowering the truck driver community.

In celebration of Drivers Day 2024, Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), part of the Mahindra Group, has announced a new scholarship scheme aimed at supporting the higher education of girls from truck driver families. This initiative, launched under the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, is a testament to Mahindra's ongoing commitment to empowering the truck driver community.

A Milestone Initiative

The Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, launched in 2014, has reached another significant milestone with this scholarship scheme. Mahindra is pioneering this initiative within the commercial vehicle sector by offering scholarships of INR 10,000 each along with a certificate to meritorious girls from truck driver families. This project will be implemented through a reach-out program at over 75 transport hubs across India, ensuring a well-defined, transparent, and independent selection process.

Since its inception, the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan has already provided scholarships to 10,029 young girls, enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations.

Remarks from Leadership

Vinod Sahay, President of Trucks, Buses, CE, Aerospace & Defence Businesses at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and a Member of the Group Executive Board, emphasized the impact of the initiative: “Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, we are not just providing scholarships but opening doors to a brighter future and instilling hope in young hearts. We are dedicated to transforming lives by providing educational opportunities for the daughters of truck driver partners. By investing in their futures, we are cultivating a generation of empowered women who will contribute significantly to our communities and the economy at large.”

We aim to see more women in the commercial vehicle segment and remain steadfast in our commitment to investing in their futures. Our goal is to develop a stronger, more equitable society where every girl can aspire to fulfill her potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.”

Scholarship Details and Presentation

The selected scholarship recipients will receive INR 10,000 via direct bank transfer along with a certificate recognizing their achievement. The formal felicitation of 1,000 scholarship recipients will take place from February to March 2025 at select locations, hosted by Mahindra Truck and Bus leadership.
