Andhra Pradesh School Bagless Day

Bagless Day in AP Schools: The Andhra Pradesh state government has taken a significant step to ease the burden on school students by declaring Saturday as a 'No Bag Day.' This decision was made during a review meeting held by the Minister for Education, Information Technology (IT), and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Tuesday.

The initiative aims to give students a break from carrying heavy school bags and to promote the importance of co-curricular activities. Minister Lokesh emphasized the need to create space for these activities, allowing students to explore interests beyond academics and contributing to their holistic development.

Review of Education Policies and Government Orders

The review meeting also touched on the implementation of Government Order (GO) 117, which was issued by the previous YSR Congress government. Minister Lokesh called for gathering feedback from teachers and educational associations on the withdrawal of this order. The goal is to find a solution that is acceptable to all stakeholders while ensuring that no students drop out of the education system due to policy changes.

Officials explained that opinions and suggestions were gathered during preparatory meetings organized by the Director of School Education. The Minister instructed officers to carefully study these suggestions and take steps to avoid any negative impacts on student retention.

Teacher Transfers and Upcoming Legislation

The meeting also addressed the issue of teacher transfers, with Minister Lokesh directing officials to focus on upcoming legislation related to teacher mobility. In addition, the Minister emphasized the need for a single, consolidated app for teachers, replacing the several apps currently in use. The development of an APAAR ID system to accurately track student enrollment across schools was also prioritized.

Focus on Andhra Pradesh's Education Blueprint

Looking ahead, Minister Lokesh called for the creation of the Andhra Pradesh Model of Education blueprint, which will serve as a comprehensive plan for shaping the state's education system. Officials were instructed to work on finalizing the blueprint and other key reforms to improve the quality of education across the state.

With the introduction of 'No Bag Day' every Saturday and various educational reforms on the horizon, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to create a more balanced and engaging learning environment for students. The proposed changes, including the review of existing policies and teacher transfer legislation, are expected to have a lasting positive impact on the state's educational landscape.
