Shaheedi Diwas, also known as Haryana War Heroes Martyrdom Day, commemorates the legacy of Rao Tularam, a significant figure in India's first war of independence in 1857.

Haryana School Closed! In a notification released by the Human Resources Department of the Haryana Government, all government and private schools across the state will remain closed today, September 23, in observance of Shaheedi Diwas. This public holiday honors the sacrifices of freedom fighters and is recognized annually.

Commemorating Rao Tularam

Shaheedi Diwas, also known as Haryana War Heroes Martyrdom Day, commemorates the legacy of Rao Tularam, a significant figure in India's first war of independence in 1857. As a freedom fighter and Yaduvanshi Ahir King of Rewari, Rao Tularam's contributions are celebrated on his death anniversary, with various ceremonies paying tribute to the valor of those who fought for the nation’s freedom.

Tributes and Remembrance

On this day, the state organizes a function at the war memorial, where people pay floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. This observance serves as a poignant reminder of the bravery and dedication of freedom fighters throughout history.

Regional Holiday for Educational Institutions

As a regional public holiday, all educational institutions, including colleges and coaching centers, will be closed tomorrow. The holiday has been noted in the official calendar, ensuring that schools in districts like Faridabad and Gurgaon will also remain closed. Students will have an extended long weekend, with classes set to resume on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

CM’s Tribute to Martyrs

Last year, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed his reverence for the martyrs through a heartfelt tweet, stating, "My humble tributes to our martyrs on Haryana’s Heroes Martyrdom Day. This special occasion is a remembrance of the courage and valour of our martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our country so that we can live in peace and freedom. Jai Hind."
