UP Board 10th Curriculum 2024-25 Changed? The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has proposed some significant changes in the UP Board Class 10 Board Exams 2024-25. Beginning from the academic year 2025-26, students of classes 9 and 10 will undergo significant changes in their curriculum and examination format, as per the latest announcement.
Expanded Subject Requirements
In alignment with NEP 2020, students will now be required to take exams in 10 subjects, up from the current six. Additionally, the board proposes the implementation of the three-language formula, mandating Hindi as a compulsory language of study. Students will have the flexibility to choose two other languages from a wide array of options, including Sanskrit, Gujarati, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Oriya, Kannada, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Nepali, Pali, Arabic, Persian, and English.
Compulsory Subjects and Electives
Under the new curriculum, all students must study Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. Additionally, they can opt for one subject from home science, anthropology, commerce, NCC, computers, agriculture, or environmental science. Art education options include painting, music, singing, or playing a musical instrument. Physical and health education choices encompass yoga, sports, physical education, and socially useful productive and social service work, which is mandatory for all students. In vocational education, students can select from 31 different subjects.
Grading System Overhaul
The grading system will undergo a transformation, shifting from a total of 600 marks to a new total of 1,000 marks. Each subject will be graded out of 100 marks, with 80 marks allocated to the main exam and 20 marks awarded through internal assessment. Furthermore, the format of examination questions will also see revisions.
These updates aim to enhance the holistic development of students and provide them with a diverse range of educational opportunities.
