WB HS Result 2021 were announced on July 22. Out of the 81.9 million students who enrolled for the exams, 97.69% passed

WBCHSE school students, who failed to clear the WB Uchcha Madhyamik board exams, blocked roads with burning tyres, ransacked school furniture and shouted slogans in multiple districts across West Bengal, demanding that they be given passing marks.

The state government stepped in, asking the aggrieved students to get in touch with their respective schools after July 30. The schools have been asked to get in touch with the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) after July 29.

WB HS Result 2021 were announced on July 22 on the official website. Out of the 81.9 million students who enrolled for the exams, 97.69 per cent passed.

Students, who were unable to clear the higher secondary exam have been protesting since Friday. The protests continued on Monday and spread to more schools across various districts. While some students ransacked furniture in schools in Howrah, Nadia and Uttar Dinajpur, others either sat on the road or blocked them with burning tyres and shouted slogans at Basanti and Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas.

“This year, the exams were cancelled because of Covid-19. We were evaluated based on the marks we procured in Class 10 board exams, Class 11 annual exams and projects and practicals in Class 12. So how can so many students fail when 100 per cent students have passed the Class 10 board exams,” said a student from Ananda Ashram Balika Vidyalaya in Naktala, according to noted media reports.

In Nadia, students shouted slogans and held handwritten posters demanding that they be given passing marks.

In some areas like Shyambazar in north Kolkata and Naktala in south Kolkata, police had to intervene to clear the roads.

“While top officials of the state education department have been holding a series of meetings with WBCHSE officials, the council issued a notice urging students to get in touch with the schools after July 30. The state government will soon take some steps so that students don’t suffer,” said an official of the education department.

On July 20, WB Madhyamik Results 2021 were announced in which 100 percent of the students passed the exam. At least 79 students stood first, scoring the highest marks.
