IIM Jammu hosts workshop on prevention of sexual harassment at workplace
The session aimed to be a platform to promote the experience of a safe and healthy work environment for all faculty members, officers, and staff members at IIM Jammu. The students, staff, and faculty members attended the event.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu conducted a workshop on 'prevention of sexual harassment at workplace' for faculty, officers, and staff. The workshop was conducted by member of the Supreme Court and advocate, Neeta Verma.
During the workshop, Verma gave an insight into sexual harassment at the workplace- acts and rules, do's and don'ts prescribed in the act, ways to prevent gender-based malpractices, and the current judicial scenario.

Neeta Verma is also the state president of the women protection human rights mission, Jammu and Kashmir, and a member of the international council of jurists in London, England. In her address, she sensitised the faculty and staff regarding the acts, rules and legal consequences of sexual harassment in the workplace.
During the workshop, she quoted real-life examples from her own experiences on various instances of sexual harassment at the workplace. MBA, chairperson, Nitin Upadhyay, in his welcome address spoke and empahsised the fine line to be drawn at the workplace to prevent the occurrence of sexual harassment at the workplace. He also stressed the need for the creation of a healthy atmosphere at the workplace and thereby contributing to a better society. The workshop was also attended by dignitaries such as sexual harassment committee, convenor and chief commanding officer, Kesavan Baskkaran and co-chairperson, Pradeep Kumar Tarei.
