Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have joined hands to offer a one-year long skill to enterprise module programme for youth of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The programme offered under this collaboration aims at bridging the gap between skill and entrepreneurship.
The skill to enterprise module programme has been designed to equip the applicants with the knowledge and guidance to start and grow their businesses. Students will be provided four-week residential training and eight-week virtual training.
Subjects such as business management, compliance, finance, planning and strategic aspects of business will be taught to the students. The candidates will be selected by the experts based on the readiness of their ideas and will be provided guidance through industry mentorship and incubation.
Classes start next month
The training will be held in two batches in Jammu and Srinagar campuses of the institute. Classes at Srinagar campus will start on December 4 and at Jammu campus on December 19. IIM Jammu director BS Sahay said, “The skill to enterprise programme is a much-needed initiative that will enable our youth to become successful entrepreneurs. It will help them realise their full potential, create job opportunities for themselves and others, and contribute to the economic growth of our nation.”
He encouraged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to leverage this opportunity and create success stories for other youth to follow. “The programme will be particularly beneficial for those who have completed a technical course and possess a valuable skill set but lack the resources and knowledge to start their own business,” he added. The programme will provide an opportunity for youth to gain financial independence and create a positive impact in their communities through entrepreneurship. The trained candidates will be connected to financial institutions through credit connect schemes.
