It was noticed that students with low attendance performed poorly thus, the board has strictly instructed schools to permit only those students that have at least 75 per cent attendance.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular sating that students studying in class 10th and 12th in CBSE schools with a minimum of 75 per cent attendance as on January 1 in the academic session 2019-20 will be eligible to sit for the CBSE board exams 2020.

The CBSE boards 2020 are scheduled to begin on February 15. All schools affiliated to the CBSE board are to calculate the attendance of students till January 1 and any cases of shortage of attendance can be submitted at the regional office till January 7.

According to Reena Khurana, spokesperson of Indore Sahodaya Schools Complex, “The Board issued standard operation for those students that have less than 75 per cent attendance. The board analysed the CBSE result of 2019 and noticed that those students with less than 75 per cent attendance had performed poorly. To ensure this does not get repeated, the board has strictly instructed schools to permit only those students who meet the minimum required attendance.”

These students will be required to submit documents to prove the reason for their absence such as medical reports etc. Those applications without any documents will be rejected.

In case of a prolonged disease, besides request from parents, a medical certificate from government doctor, all medical reports and recommendation from the school will be required. In case of loss of either of the parent, request from the other parent, death certificate issued by concerned authority and recommendation of school will be needed. In case of low attendance due to sports events, the sports certificate along with the request from parents and recommendation of school will be required.
