Chhattisgarh Government School Admissions 2022: The government of Chhattisgarh on April 26, 2022, informed that the state's Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools have received more applications than the number of seats available for admissions within just one week.

According to TOI, school education principal secretary Dr Alok Shukla said, "Our Swami Atmanand English medium schools are attracting more students. These schools have received applications almost 40 times the actual number of seats available. Schools are adopting a lottery system to allot seats.”

Schools increase seat intake to fulfill demand

Earlier, following a large number of admission applications, the state government had increased the number of seats in English medium schools to 50 each to fulfill the demands. However, still, the number of applications pouring in are way more than the number of seats available, the government school principal informed.

Talking further about the number of applications received for admission in various government schools of Chhattisgarh, the principal said, RD Tiwari English School has received 2460 applications, Shaheed Smarak English School has received 1779 applications, followed by 1051 applications forms for admission received by BP Pujari School.

This is an indication of how people are preferring government-run Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools over private English Schools for education, he added.

The government established Swami Atmanand English Schools in Raipur two years ago with an aim to provide quality education to the children coming from economically and socially weaker sections of the society. There are 171 Swami Atmanand English medium schools. Following the demands of the people, the government later introduced Hindi medium schools as well.
