CLAT 2022 is being conducted this weekend i.e. on Sunday, June 19. The consortium has issued exam instructions for CLAT 2022 ahead of the exam day. Check details here. 

CLAT 2022 exam day guidelines

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is scheduled to be held on June 19, (Sunday, from 2 PM to 4 PM). The exam authority, Consortium of NLUs has shared important instructions for CLAT 2022 exam day. The candidates taking CLAT 2022 must read these instructions beforehand. The exam day instructions for CLAT 2022 exam centres, admit card, documents to be carried to the centre, exam schedule and reporting time are applicable to UG and PG candidates. 

CLAT 2022 Instructions for the exam day

The exam day instructions for CLAT 2022 as shared by the exam authority are as under: 

1.The entry for inside the test centres will begin from 1 pm onwards, and candidates will be seated at their desks by 1:30 pm. 

2. Candidates will be allowed to leave the examination hall only after 4 pm. 

3. The last entry inside the examination hall is at  2:15 pm, candidates reaching the exam centre after this will not be allowed to take the exam. 

4. The exam authorities will ring the bells to announce the exam events as under:

5. The exam authority allows only necessary items for taking CLAT 2022, and these are: 

  • Blue/Black Ball Point Pen 
  • Admit Card 
  • Any clear Original Photo Identity Card
  • Transparent Water Bottle 
  • Face Mask, Sanitizer, face shield, and hand gloves 

6. The exam centre officials will check the following things while frisking candidates: 

  • Cell phones or
  • Calculator
  • Digital watches,
  • Regular earphones/Headphones/ Bluetooth earpieces 

Candidates will be asked to leave the above items outside the test centres if they want to appear for CLAT 2022.

7. Candidates need to sign and fill all the details such as CLAT 2022 admit card no., Question paper booklet no. on the front page of the OMR Response Sheet as instructed by the exam invigilator. 

8. Before starting the examination, candidates are requested to check the CLAT 2022 question paper carefully, to ensure there are no mis-prints. “If something is missing or not properly printed, or is damaged, request may be made to the Invigilator to give another Sealed Plastic Envelope containing a new Question Booklet and OMR Response Sheet.”

“All questions shall be answered on the OMR Response Sheet only. The method of marking the answers is illustrated below. Candidates are advised to go through the instructions given for marking the answers and other entries on the OMR Response Sheet thoroughly and observe the same.” stated the notification 

9. Besides, “As the OMR Response Sheet is carbonized, the candidates shall detach the second page (Candidate’s copy) of OMR Response Sheet and keep it with them for reference along with a used Question Booklet. The OMR Response Sheet (Original) shall be submitted to the Invigilator at the end of the test.”

10. Candidates should handle their OMR sheet carefully, and they must not fold, wrinkle, tear, scribble or make any marks sheet. They are only allowed to mark their responses in the correct manner as instructed. 

11. Candidates can use only a BLUE / BLACK BALL POINT PEN for marking their responses in the OMR sheet. Marking more than one response will be considered as invalid even if one of the options is marked correctly. 

12. Avoid overwriting, erasing or scribbling on the OMR sheet, as the exam centre officials will not provide additional OMR Response Sheet. 

13. Candidates shall stop marking responses in the OMR sheet by 4 pm. The centre officials will collect all the OMR sheets from 4:01 pm onwards. If candidates do not submit their OMR sheet then they will be disqualified from admissions, and appropriate penal action will be taken against them.

14. Candidates will not be allowed to ask for clarifications from the exam centre officials. 

15. The exam authority also stated that, “Any candidate who is found either copying or receiving or giving assistance will be disqualified. It will be treated as malpractice and necessary action will be taken. If a candidate is found to possess or use any incriminating material, it will amount to malpractice and the candidate will be disqualified. Further, the candidate will be subject to legal action.” 

16. Furthermore, on clarifying the marking scheme, the exam authority added, “Questions which are not marked as per the instructions, will not be evaluated. Indicating any other marks or symbols or words on the OMR Response Sheet will result in disqualification of the candidate.

  • The candidates may do their rough work, if any, on the space provided at the end of Question Booklet itself and not on the OMR Response Sheet. No additional sheets of paper will be supplied for rough work. 
  • There will be NEGATIVE MARKING of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.”

CLAT 2022 COVID Protocols

The COVID-19 positive cases are surging once again, therefore, the exam authority has issued prevention and safety guidelines for CLAT 2022 test-takers. “Health and Safety of all stakeholders is of paramount importance to the Consortium of National Law Universities. It is also the collective responsibility of all stakeholders including the candidates writing the test on June 19, 2022. Therefore, Candidates shall: 

  1. Reach the test centre well in time to identify the Seating Place in the Seating Plan displayed and avoid crowding at a particular location at the test centre. 
  2. The centre staff will check the temperature of each candidate with Thermal Guns. If the temperature of any candidate exceeds 99.14° F, such candidate will be directed to be seated in a quarantined room. Such candidates will not be permitted to leave the quarantined room until all candidates have left the Test Centre. 
  3. Any candidate who has been tested COVID-19 positive recently and is in isolation will not be permitted to take the CLAT-2022 examination scheduled on June 19, 2022. 
  4. Keep wearing the face mask/ shield etc… and always take necessary precautions in the premises of the Test Centre, particularly in the Examination Hall. 
  5. Use/keep Sanitizer safely and not spill it on the OMR Response Sheet and Question Booklet as there is a possibility of it getting blurred with the chemical liquid and may be invalidated by the OMR Response Sheet reader. 

Documents accepted as the photo ID proof along with the admit card 

Following documents will be considered as a Photo ID proof by the exam centre officials: 

(1) Passport 

(2) PAN Card 

(3) Ration / PDS Photo Card 

(4) Voter ID Card 

(5) Driving License 

(6) Photo ID issued by Recognized Educational Institution 

(7) Photo Bank ATMCard 

(8) Kissan Photo Passbook 

(9) CGHS / ECHS Photo Card 

(10)Address Card having Name and Photo issued by Department of Posts 

(11)Certificate of Identify having photo issued by Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on letterhead 

(12)Disability ID Card/handicapped medical certificate issued by the respective State/UT Governments/Administrations
