When preparing for the two law entrance exams, English is a common subject. Many ignore the subject thinking it can be prepared in the nick of time. But the problem is the subject is unlike any other as it can’t be mastered in a few days.

It takes time and perseverance to learn the English language
Shrawan Gupta, Managing Director of Manu Law Classes, says that “English can’t be mastered overnight.”
To do well in the section, Mr. Gupta suggests the candidate reads national dailies; online materials are not as effective according to him.
Here is why he thinks English is such a key element to succeed in AILET and CLAT
- Both the question papers are set in English
- The questions in the exam are passage or text-based. Meaning, the candidate has to read a lot of text just to understand the passage.
- Also, the vocabulary used in the passages could be properly understood only if the candidate has a rich vocabulary.
- If the candidate is very adept at English, he or she can quickly comprehend the passage or the question and can proceed to find the answer.
- Also, note that English language skill is not restricted to answering questions in the English section, but would come in handy to solve questions in other sections as well.
