Cotton University Admissions 2021: Applications invited for UG, PG courses from COVID orphans

Though the admission process at Cotton University was almost over in October, a notice has been issued by the CU academic registrar, SK Dutta, stating that such students would be admitted under a special provision.

The Cotton University (CU) has announced that for the academic year 2021-22, all those students who have lost their parents to COVID-19, will be given admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. Though the admission process at Cotton University was almost over in October, a notice has been issued by the CU academic registrar, SK Dutta, stating that such students would be admitted under a special provision.

"This is for information that Cotton University has Semester admission for the academic session parent due to Covid-19. Such candidates (for both UG & PG admission) may send an application paper with testimonials of the qualifying examination to the Director Students’ Welfare, Cotton University accompanied by a medical certificate mentioning parents of the candidate. The application must be accompanied by a medical certificate mentioning Covid-19 infection as the cause of death of one of the parents of the candidate,” read the notice.

Though the varsity is not sure about the number of applicants for the COVID-19 quota, the notice stated that for a few seats for UG and PG first semester admission 2021-22, the application will be invited in a plain paper and the last date to apply is on or before November 15. 

In Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, around 1,200 seats have been filled up recently but some of the seats under extra-curricular activities and reserved quotas are in the process of being filled up.

In the COVID-19 quota, a total of six seats in UG courses, three each in BA and BSc, will be filled up. Dutta said they are yet to decide on the number of seats for PG.
