After COVID-19 cases were reported, the Vice-Chancellor of GU announced that the cultural night scheduled to be conducted on December 14, 2021, has been cancelled. The 'Talent Search Competition' was supposed to take place on a cultural night. It was being organised by the Post Graduate Students Union. It must be noted that the state has until now have not reported any cases of Omicron.
The total number of active cases of COVID-19 in Assam is 2469 cases. The active ratio due to COVID-19 in the state is 0.40 per cent. Further, the death ratio due to COVID-19 in the state is 0.99 per cent.
Considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation, Gauhati University released an official notification stating that both hostels and physical classes have been suspended by the varsity till December 19, 2021. Further, as per the notice issued, the entry of outsiders will also be not allowed during the said period. As per the guidelines issued by the Registrar, the office will also run with minimum functioning. Further, all stakeholders should be following proper COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitizer, and other guidelines to mitigate the spread of the virus.
