Delhi Police bound down five college students in connection with IP college harassment case

The Delhi Police has bound down five students of Delhi University and Guru Gobind Indraprastha University in connection to the Indraprastha College for Women harassment case. The IP College students have alleged that some men have scaled its boundary wall and harassed them during the annual festival on March 29. 

"The five students will have to remain present before the investigating officer (IO) whenever required and can’t leave the city or the country without informing the officer
Of five – three are students of Motilal Nehru College and one each of Sri Venkateswara College and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Legal action under Section 41A of the CrPC has been taken against them after sufficient scientific evidence was found against them by the district police. They were called to Civil Lines police station from where they were released after documentation,” a senior police officer said.

Earlier, Delhi University had announced that it has formed a five-member committee to look into the incident. In the FIR, the college administration has released a statement seeking help from the students to identify those who are responsible. Meanwhile, the college students as well as the student groups are staging a protest demanding principal Poonam Kumria’s resignation over the incident.

Earlier, DCP (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi had said, “Artist Asees Kaur was called for a performance on March 28 and there was a massive crowd near the gate. Around 3 pm, some overzealous students hurried to enter the college. Some of the students fell down and got injured. We have lodged an FIR and further investigations are on.”
